Limerick FC draw Sligo Rovers in EA Sports Cup

Limerick FC have been given a home draw against Airtricity League champions Sligo Rovers in the quarter-finals of the EA Sports Cup.

Limerick FC have been given a home draw against Airtricity League champions Sligo Rovers in the quarter-finals of the EA Sports Cup.

The glamour tie will take place at Thomond Park on Monday, July 1.

Limerick FC and Sligo played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in the Premier Division at Thomond Park last month while Sligo Rovers had a 2-1 win when the sides met in the Showgrounds earlier in the season.

Stuart Taylor’s Limerick side booked their place in the last eight stage of the competition with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Waterford Utd in the previous round.

Limerick FC are in Premier Division action this Friday night when they travel to Tallaght Stadium to take on Shamrock Rovers (8pm)

The draw for the quarter-finals of the EA Sports Cup took place last evening on RTE Two’s MNS programme and was made by Damien Richardson and Colm Foley.

Holders Drogheda United have been handed a home game against Cork City. Airtricity League Premier Division leaders St Patrick’s Athletic must travel to Tallaght Stadium to face Shamrock Rovers who have already won the Setanta Sports Cup this season. FAI Ford Cup holders Derry City will also be on their travels having been drawn away to Bohemians.

The draw for the third round of the FAI Cup will be made next Monday, June 17.
