Crescent had won the SoHockey 2025 Munster Senior 'A' Girls Hockey title for the first time since 2022 when defeating Mount Mercy 3-1 in an entertaining final played at Ursulines College, Thurles in February.

That Munster final win secured Crescent's passage into this month's Kate Russell All-Ireland Schoolgirls Hockey Championships at Three Rock Rovers where the competing sides play four matches over two days.

Led by captain Anna Campbell, Crescent College Comprehensive (CCC) got off to a great start with a hard fought victory, coming back from behind to defeat hosts Loreto Beaufort 2-1.

Both scores for Crescent came from Munster final player of the match, Aisling Kelly. In the afternoon, Munster champions Crescent were involved in a close fought battle with eventual runners-up, Portadown College representing Ulster which resulted in a 0-0 draw.

The second day of the Kate Russell saw CCC play their Jesuit counterparts Coláiste Iognáid representing Connacht. This was another close affair with goals from Eimear Keogh, Sarah Horgan and Aisling Kelly seeing CCC winning on a score of 3-1.

In a very competitive fourth match, Loreto Kilkenny put up a strong challenge against the Limerick side but a composed performance from Crescent resulted in a 2-0 win with goals from Grace O'Dwyer and Sarah Horgan. The victory ensured that the Kate Russell Trophy would be coming down to Limerick for the third time.
