LIMERICK hurlers hold an impressive record in the 2025 Guinness Book of World Records for the most consecutive wins of the All-Ireland Hurling Final.
In the latest edition of the popular annual book, the Guinness World Records stated: "Limerick chalked up their fourth successive hurling championship on July 23, 2023, defeating Kilkenny by 0-30 to 2-15 in the final at Croke Park in Dublin. This equalled the feat of Cork in 1941-44 and Kilkenny in 2006-09. The fast-moving sport, one of Ireland's Gaelic games, sees teams of 15 wield their hurley sticks to battle for control of the ball, known as a sliotar."
Meanwhile, two plaque unveilings took place at Kilcornan Community Centre last December in honour of the Guinness World Records set there in 1986.

In May 1986 the parish of Kilcornan attempted to set a world record for the longest Gaelic football match. This was the first time any such GAA challenge had been set.
The event took place over three days and the two teams, Curraghchase Rovers and Morenane Mighties, were made up of 14 players from the parish.
All 14 players were there for the entirety of the three days, playing football morning, noon and night. The teams were not allowed any substitutes and played for a total of 60 hours and five minutes.
The Guinness Book of World Records, is a British reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.
