LIMERICK U20 footballers play their second fixture in the round robin phase of the Munster U20 championship when taking on Waterford at Ballyagran this Saturday afternoon, 2pm.

Limerick played out an exciting 0-12 to 2-6 draw with Tipperary in their opening round robin fixture in Fethard on Friday night last.

This weekend's opponents Waterford suffered a 0-13 to 0-6 home defeat to Clare in their opening fixture on Saturday. Limerick will complete their programme of round robin phase games against Clare at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale at 2pm.

Limerick U20 manager Shane Kelly said he was ‘quite happy' to come away from Fethard with a draw “A point in our first game away from home has to be a massive positive,” Shane Kelly said.

“I do think we had momentum towards the end, I think we got the last four shots off, maybe to sneak it.

“Take their two goals out of it, it's 0-12 to 0-6, so a lot of positives, a lot of work to do.

“I would like to think we are building, we are trying to the right things for the right reasons.” Kelly said the new format of the U20 provincial championship with Limerick guaranteed to play a minimum of four games is to be welcomed.

“For these boys to be guaranteed four inter-county championship games is massive for them. It's better than the format we had.”
