LIMERICK MINOR camogie team have made it two wins from two in the Electric Ireland Minor A Shield All Ireland Championship after a 0-16 to 0-10 victory over Roscommon in UL yesterday, Sunday.
Limerick got the better start of the two as Ellie Madden, Eimear O’Donovan, Roisin O’Brien and Poppy Giltenane all go their names on the score sheet leaving it 0-07 to 0-00 after 20 minutes. Roscommon got their first point from a free and then got two more quickly afterwards to make it Limerick 0-07, Roscommon 0-03. Eimear O’Dononvan scored another super point after she made a blistering run down the sideline. The game stood with Limerick ahead 0-08 to Roscommon's 0-03 at half time.
The second half got underway and again it was Limerick who were quickest out of the blocks with Ciara Curtin score from play. Roisin O’Brien added to her tally with a point from a 45 while Roscommon also scored a point from a placed ball.
Poppy Giltenane got on the end of a great move to continue to keep Limerick ahead by four points. Roscommon never let their heads drop though and continued to score points but Limerick seemed to find their scores easier. Emma Mullins, who had another solid game at wing back, made her way up the pitch to send a shot flying high and over the bar.
Ciara Curtin took the ball on herself and drove through the middle, took on the score and landed it over the bar much to the delight of the home crowd. Ellie Madden and Roisin O’Brien took turns taking frees and both were deadly accurate. Aeibhinn Houlihan who came on in the second half also got her name on the score sheet.
Roscommon got three frees on the bounce before referee John Burke blew the full time whistle. Full time score Limerick 0-16 Roscommon 0-10.
