TREATY Utd have fallen short of a win in the Sports Direct FAI women's Cup after an extra-time goal by league leaders Peamount United sealed a dramatic 3-2 for the Dubliners at the Markets Field on Saturday.

The young Treaty United side did extremely well throughout large portions of an exciting Cup tie but in the end Peamount's experience got them through to the next round of the competition.

In a physical opening half, Peamount enjoyed the majority of possession with vital saves coming from Treaty captain and goalkeeper Anne-Marie Ulliac until a beautiful shot by Aoibhe Fleming put the home-side 1-0 ahead mid-way through.

Peamount's duo of Ellen Doland and Kate Mooney looked threatening for the Women's Premier Division leaders in the opening minutes of the game but none of their shots found the target.

After defending well against the constant pressure of Peamount's attack, Treaty's Kate O'Donovan broke through the midfield well and linked up with Aoibhe Fleming.

Fleming, who recently signed with the club from Shamrock Rovers, did extremely well to get a long range shot off outside the box which landed in the left hand side of the net and put the Limerick team ahead after 16 minutes of play.

It took the remainder of the half for Peamount to find a response and midfielder Erin McLaughlin made no mistake as her shot hit the back of the net to level the game at 1-1.

In added time, Peamount were punished for leaving their goal unattended and Limerick native, Aoife Cronin did well to intercept the pass and get the shot off to put the Limerick side ahead at the break, 2-1.

However, Peamount hit back after the break and scored an equalising goal nine minutes into the second-half through Kate Mooney.

Once the Dublin side levelled the game, both squads struggled to get the winning goal with Peamount having the most shots on target.

Neither team could hit the target resulting in a 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes.

In the first-half of extra time, Peamount's McLaughlin found the back of the net for the second time in the game to put her side ahead.

This would be the deciding goal of the match with Treaty unable to find an answer in the second portion of extra-time, leaving the scoreline on 3-2 in favour of Peamount.
