LIMERICK'S senior hurling management has issued an injury update on star defender Sean Finn.

The corner back was forced off injured at half time in Limerick's Munster SHC tie with Clare last Saturday night in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

This Thursday evening, John Kiely's management confirmed that Finn had "suffered an ACL injury on Saturday evening last that will rule him out for the remainder".

"We wish Sean the very best in his recovery and assure him of our fullest support and expertise on that journey."

It's a second cruciate ligament injury for the Bruff clubman - he sustained the first in early 2016 as he was breaking through into the county senior panel.

Finn is a four-time All Star defender and his absence comes as a blow to champions Limerick as they look to regroup after last Saturday's loss to Clare.

Limerick are back in Munster Championship action on Sunday May 21 against Tipperary in Thurles and complete the group phase of the provincial competition one week later when Cork visit Shannonside.
