Limerick GAA club to hold Dawn to Dusk fundraiser

TENS of thousands of Limerick GAA fans will be on the move from dawn to dusk on All-Ireland final day on July 23 but they will be doing it a week earlier in Oola.
The club is holding a “Dawn 2 Dusk" fundraiser this Sunday, July 16 to help pay for some of the cost of the redevelopment of the GAA field in Oola. They are nearing completion of phase one of the project.
Marie O'Donnell, Oola GAA Club PRO, said funds raised will also help with future development of the walkway.
“We plan to have people walking on the new walkway from dawn (9am) to dusk (9pm). If you would like to walk and support this please call to the field on Sunday or if you are not living locally you can still donate and complete a one hour walk in your own area and please send us a picture,” said Marie.
The investment by Oola GAA Club will help the whole community as well as hurlers, ladies gaelic footballers and camogie stars like their own Man of the Match winner against Galway, Darragh O'Donovan, who is often wrongly called a Doon man.
When this project started a committee was formed of James Hallisey, Pius O' Grady, Martin Landers, Tom Bourke, Paddy Ryan and Donal Bourke, who took on the task of getting this project over the line.
Marie said in the last week matches have been played on the new pitch and they are delighted to have the field back in action.
“In addition to the field, it was decided that we would put a community walkway around the perimeter of the pitch. This has been completed in the last week.
“As we are located on the very busy N24 we are delighted to have this as a safe place for the community to walk and get out in the fresh air in the area,” said Marie.
It is also possible to donate online with more information on Oola GAA Club's social media channels.
All are welcome to attend the Oola GAA Club fundraiser this Sunday, July 16 and chat about the following Sunday!
