A MAN who was driving for work at a job he has since lost, was stopped by gardaí who found that he failed to produce a licence and had no insurance.

A valid driving licence was produced in court and proof of current insurance was seen by Garda Errol Flynn in Newcastle West District Court, but they weren't produced when he was stopped on March 19.

Solicitor Michael O’Donnell told the court that his client, Rostan Ashandez, is originally from Georgia and was using an interpreter to understand the court proceedings.

Mr Ashandez, who has an address at Mullaly Lawn, Cappamore, County Limerick, has been in Ireland for three years and has no previous convictions.

Mr O’Donnell said that the employer his client was working for at the time terminated the job and it “didn’t end well,” and added that he is insured now and working again.

Judge Karen Dowling directed for a donation of €300 to St Vincent de Paul and payment of the donation is to be verified in court on November 14.
