HISTORY beckens for Mungret St Paul's ladies football team as they take on Downings, of Donegal, in this Sunday's AIB Junior All-Ireland Club Final in Parnell Park at 2pm.
The All-Ireland final will be streamed live on the TG4 Sport's Youtube chanel. The Donegal opposition stand in the way of Mungret capturing their third cup of the year after getting over the Limerick Intermediate Championship final hurdle of Knockainey, before going on to produce several top class displays in winning the Munster junior title.
2024 has been a terrific year for the Mungret ladies football side who have reached the club's first ever Munster and All-Ireland finals.
Mungret got over the challenge of Abbeydorney in the Munster semi-final before going on to battle it out with Midleton in the Munster final in Mallow back in November. A two point victory saw the Mungret ladies move forward to the All-Ireland championship.
The All-Ireland semi-final would prove to be one of Mungret's toughest challenges to date as the Limerick side travelled to Tubbercurry to take on Connacht champions Coolrea Strandhill. In extremely testing conditions the sides could not be separated after regular and extra-time, with the semi-final being decided by 20-metre free-kicks.
Grainne McKenna, Carol Bateman and Fiona Morrissey sent Mungret St Paul's through to their first ever All-Ireland club final.
