Following their 3-0 win over Pike Rovers in the previous round, Bridge brought a large crowd with them and entered the tie full of confidence.
Aisling matched their opponents throughout. While youngsters Jack Aherne; Donnacha O’Leary and Isaac O’Sullivan were superb in the middle of the park it was the experienced pair of Adam Foley and Conor Coughlan who provided the winning of the game.
Adam Foley was denied the opening goal in the opening minutes when his viciously struck volley was superbly saved by former team mate John Mulready in the Bridge goal.
The visitors took the leaders on 13 minutes. A good cross by was headed clear by Alex Cuddy when Brian Corry pounced. His shot was blocked by David Moloney but fell to Jack O'Halloran who fired into the bottom corner.
Aisling were back on level terms midway through the half. O’Leary chased a through ball and keeper Mulready was adjudged to have fouled, allowing Adam Foley the chance to convert the resulting spot kick and he duly obliged.
Things got even better for the home side two minutes later when Foley played a superb ball in behind the defence for the speedy Sean Ezekannagha to race clear of his marker and cooly slot past the advancing keeper to put Aisling in front.
Aisling missed a good chance to increase the lead following good work by Coughlan, but O’Leary side footed wide from close range.
After the break, a superb save from Moloney by Aaron Curtis kept the visitors at bay but the visitors were not to be denied and got their equaliser with 15 minutes remaining.
Adam Fitzpatrick played a clever through ball and Filipe Mostowy fired across the ‘keeper into the far corner.
Both sides had a few half chances before extra time was called for.
O’Halloran was denied a second when his back heel was intercepted by Alex Cuddy and at the other end Brennan was inches away from finishing Oyibo’s cross.
With time running out and both benches contemplating penalties when a harmless looking ball from Conor Carew was allowed bounce by the visiting defence and Coughlan was in like a flash.
