THIS weekend’s offering in the Limerick District League is a real mixed bag with something for everyone.
On Saturday afternoon, Pike Rovers travel the short distance to visit Bridge United for a place in the last eight of the Munster Junior Cup.
Since their last appearance in the competition, a 5-0 win over College Corinthians in early November, Pike Rovers have only played one game, a 5-1 win over Corbally.
The break will have allowed the management to refocus on the remainder of their season.

'Bridge are currently doing well in their league, lying five points behind leaders Newmarket with a game in hand so Pike will earn any victory they might muster.
Also on Saturday evening in the Tuohy Cup quarter final Fairview Rangers host Nenagh at the Fairgreen.
The league leaders kicked off the new year with back-to-back wins and will go into the tie full of confidence.
Nenagh played out a 1-1 draw with Janesboro last week and are hoping to build a momentum. They may relish the idea that most people think they have little hope of toppling the Blues.
On Sunday in the same competition Janesboro welcome Regional Utd.
Regional’s two wins this year makes it eight unbeaten for the Dooradoyle club who will have no fears coming to Pearse Stadium.
'Boro were less than thrilled with a 1-1 draw with Nenagh and will be demanding an improvement. Thet will targeting this competition as their best hope of silverware.
Two Limerick sides are in action in the Munster Youth Cup Quarter Finals. Corbally Utd welcome Newmarket Celtic hoping to improve on last weekend’s defeat to Freebooters in the FAI.
Fairview had better luck in the national competition, beating Feenagh 5-1. On Sunday they may find Tramore AFC a tougher prospect but are well capable of making the last four.
There are a couple of games down in the Lawson Cup. Carew Limerick Utd will be looking for their first win in five at home to Meanus while Murroe, on the back of a superb 17 game unbeaten run, welcome Division 2A leaders Hyde Rangers B.
Two games in the Premier League switch attention from top to bottom.
Second-placed Ballynanty Rvs can close the gap on leaders Fairview Rgs to a single point if they can win at home to Geraldines.
‘Dines are sitting three points from safety at the moment but with a full squad can cause any side troubles.
They fought back to earn a draw in the corresponding game in Garryowen earlier in the season, so Balla will be under no illusions going into this one.
At the other end of the table Athlunkard Villa take on Corbally Utd in a crucial game.
A win for Villa would give them a nine-point buffer zone from danger which would be enough to ensure a comfortable run in.
Corbally on the other hand need a win. They are three points adrift in the drop zone but games are running out.
The Premier A league race is a thrilling affair. Leaders Moyross are away to an improving Summerville Rovers A.
Star Rovers and Newport Town both dropped points last weekend and they meet on Sunday in what could prove a crucial game.
Division 1A leaders Herbertstown A face a tough game at fourth placed Holycross while in the Youth Premier Division top sides Pike Rovers and Holycross meet in Crossagalla.
