IN THE all-Limerick game, Regional Utd advanced to the quarter finals of the Munster Junior Cup with a 3-0 win over Geraldines at Dooradoyle on Sunday morning.
Having to field without a number of key players, Geraldines went into the tie more in hope than expectations and the concession of an early goal confirmed their fears within three minutes.
Former ‘Dines player Muhsin Jelle cut in from the right and played Eoin Duff through. The striker held off his marker to fire past John Ryan in the Dines goal.

Geraldines battled gamely and made life difficult for the home side but Regional doubled their lead a minute before the break when Brian O'Connor latched onto a rebound from a corner kick on the edge of the box and neatly fired into the top corner.
The second half continued much in the same vein with Dines threatening but unable to find a way through.
The contest was closed out with time running out. A good run by Jelle ended with Andy Quaide applying the finishing touch. Regional’s reward is a trip to Coachford for a place in the last four.

THERE was further good news in the other tie as Aisling progressed in the tournament following a 4-2 win at Killorglin.
Adam Foley gave Aisling the lead after good work by Donnacha O'Leary but the Kerry side were back on level terms through Tom Whittleton’s spot kick two minutes later.
Foley scored his second on the hour mark and Edmonds O'Sullivan scored a third ten minutes from time to ease ethe tension.
Adam Owens pulled one back for the home side in injury time, but Aisling had the final say when Conor Coughlan completed the scoring.
Aisling will meet Bridge United or Pike Rvs in the quarter-finals.

BALLYNANTY Rovers B, winners of the tournament in 2024, qualified for the quarter finals with an extra time win over Inter Kenmare in Kerry.
Scoreless at the break, the home side took the lead from a penalty kick five minutes after the restart through Dawid Grebowiec.
Jamie O’Sullivan levelled matters just after the hour mark after good work by Arron Nunan.
A minute later Derek Dalt fed Nunan to put Balla in front however the home side responded immediately and another penalty, again converted by Dawid Grebowiec
Extra-time was called for and the ever-reliable Aaron Nunan struck the winner to see Balla through to the last eight where they will play Aisling D in a repeat of the 2024 final.

SHELBOURNE kept Munster Junior Shield hopes intact after a superb win at Waterloo AFC.
The Waterford side promised to be a tough nut to crack, following their success over Herbertstown in the previous round.
However, Shels got the perfect start when Ger Johnson’s delivery to the back post picked out Dan Collins who calmly finished after nine minutes.
The game proved a tight affair for much of the first half, and anything Waterloo created was thwarted by some solid Shels defending.
The crucial second goal came with 25 minutes remaining, as Alan Carr’s free kick from halfway caused problems and slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands into the net, sealing the win.
It proved a superb all-round performance but the displays of youngsters James Doherty, Adam McGlynn, and Dan Collins augers well for the club.
In the quarter-finals, Shels will be away to either Carrigaline or Peak Villa.

MURROE posted a superb result with a 2-0 win over a strong Avenue B side in Murroe to reach the last eight of the Munster Shield.
In a teak tough encounter, the home side took the lead five minutes from the break through Liam Quinn.
The second half continued in much the same vein when the prolific Quinn struck again with the clincher six minutes from time.
The striker rose to head in Jamie Long’s free quick for his 23rd goal of the season.
Murroe’s reward is a trip to Breska Rvs for a place in the semi-finals.

AISLING Annacotty, beaten finalists in 2024 have reached the last eight where they will meet Ballynanty Rvs B, their conquerors in said final, following a 3-1 win over Granville on Sunday.
Calum Ryan put Aisling in front but Calum O’Hanlon tied the game up with the Granville equaliser.
Aisling pulled away with scores from Evan O’Neill and Jason Daly to secure the win.

THE Tuohy Cup continued on Wednesday evening when Aisling Annacotty and Corbally served up a goal feast in Annacotty where the home side progressed on a 7-4 scoreline.
Corbally Utd took the lead on five minutes through Dave Thompson but goals from Adam Foley and Sean O'Haodha midway through the half flipped the game in Aislings direction.
Eoghan O'Connell equalised before half time and shortly after the break the same player went on to complete his hat trick to leave Corbally 4-3 ahead.
Sean Ezekannagha scored two goals in two minutes to restore parity in the game.
Adam Foley put Aisling back in front after 66 minutes and late scores from Jamie Halpin and Conor Coughlan put a gloss on the scoreline for the home side.

FAIRVIEW Rgs maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table following a hard earned 2-1 win over Mungret Regional on Sunday.
It was far from vintage from the home side who had their hands full containing a good Mungret XI.
The leaders can thank Shane Duggan, who capped off a superb performance with both goals for the winners.
Mungret started better and had a few half chances before Fairview settled and took the lead through Shane Duggan after 28 minutes.
Mungret equalised with a fine effort from Danny McCarthy after 50 minutes but with 20 minutes remaining were reduced to ten men and Fairview took advantage following a foul on Darragh Rainsford, Duggan blasted in the resultant spot kick to win the points.

SECOND-PLACED Ballynanty Rvs kept pace with the leaders when they took the spoils at home to Athlunkard Villa. Goals from Cian Lynch and Vinny Ryan had Balla’ in control after 17 minutes.
Top scorer Famara Kassama marked his introduction by reducing the deficit five minutes after the restart but Kane Connolly set up Shane Walsh to restore Balla’s two goal lead before Vinny Ryan nabbed a second to complete the scoring.

In the Lawson Cup there were no real surprises with the games going to script. Star Rvs hit Castle Utd thanks to scores from Miguel Valera 3, James Lyons, Willon, Emmet Hehir and an own goal.Aaron O'Connor 2, Darren Casey 2 and Jack Callaghan accounted for the winning scores as Charleville beat Pallas 5-1.
Darragh Hanley and Ben McNamara were on the mark for Parkville but they fell by the odd goal to Summerville Rvs whose goals came from Emanuel Alfred 2 and Morgan Clancy.
Cathal O'Connell, Alan Neill and N Argas Avalos netted for Caherdavin Celtic in a 3-1 win over Glenview while Caherconlish, thanks to scores from Jack Enright 2, Conor Martin and B Madden beat Croom 4-0.
Simon Delaney and Tony Burke were on target for Holycross at home to Prospect Priory but the visitors prevailed with scores from Trevor Hogan, J Hogan and Philip Naughton.
Cappamore eased past Newtown with goals from Sean Hayes 2, Mike O'Brien 2, Cian Tierney, Cian Martin, John O'Brien and Jamie McCarthy while Castle Rvs beat Northside 5-0. Jerry Flavin 2, Ryan Harkin 2 and Craig McNamara scored.
ROUND-UP
THERE were some crucial games in the various league programs, none more so than in the Premier A League where joint second placed sides Newport Town and Kilmallock Utd A met with the chance to overtake Sytar Rvs at the top of the table.
At the end of the day the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils to make it a three-way lead in the table.
Kilmallock seemed to have this one in the bag when goals from Oisin O'Reilly 2 and Barry Sheedy saw the county side take a 3-0 lead.
However, a great comeback saw Newport tale a point thanks to goals from Sean Ryan, Conor Brett and Paul Ryan’s last gasp equaliser.
Moyross got back to winning ways with a 5-1 win over Southend. Lee Quinn bagged a hat trick while Adrian Power and Cian Power also obliged.
Jack Flanagan scored five along with a Dave Burke goal to give Regional B a 6-1 win at Aisling for whom T Jasinski replied.
In Division 1B, Kilmallock B beat Patrickswell 6-2 with scores from John Paul Houlihan (2), Dave Todd (2), Conor Hanley and Joe Hay while Lisnagry A put four past Kilfrush through Niall McGrath (2), Jamie Collins and Adam Stuart.
Division 2A leaders Hyde Rgs proved too strong for Moyross Utd B. Evan Shine Sean Dooley, Nabil Kassam, Jamie McNamara and Eoin Quigley shared the winner’s goals. Dean Quinn replied for Moyross.
Second-placed Brazuca remain eight points adrift despite winning 3-0 at Cappamore B. Matheus Jacome (2) and Christian Baldassi netted for the winners.
A hat-trick apiece for Ralph Leonard and Cian Moloney with Liam Kelly’s goal saw Coonagh Utd beat Aisling Annacotty C 7-2. Gift Amadsun scored a brace for the losers.
Lough Derg and Abbey Rvs ended 1-1. Darragh Hickey and Leonard Casey Plunkett were the respective scorers.
Mungret Regional C take over top spot in Division 2B following a 3-2 win over Dromore Celtic. Aled Harkin, Abdallah Hamareh and Danny Galvin were the winning scorers. Mansoor Arda and Aaron Vaughan replied for Celtic.
David Rainsford’s 74th minute goal skippered any chance Athlunkard Villa had of reining in leaders Murroe C IN Division 3A on Saturday evening.
Adrian Ryan had given Murroe the lead before Cian Malone levelled for the visitors. Rainsford netted the winner to give the County side a four-point lead with games in hand on the chasing pack.
In the FAI U17 Cup there was success for Limerick sides with both Aisling and Mungret Reg advancing.
Ailing travelled to Dublin and beat Cambridge 4-1. Goals from Ewan Coulter (2), Aaron Guerin and Jack Cregan secured the win.
R Fleming and Harry Beegan scored for Mungret in a 2-1 win at Bridge United.
In the Ger Ryan Cup, Pike advanced following a 7-3 win over Corbally Utd.
Cathal McNamara 3, Danny Quirke, Joe Murphy, S Dunphy and Colin Strachan obliged for the winners, Donal Connelly, Ruaidhri Mitchell and Conor Coughlan netted for Corbally.
J O'Brien, Luke McIntyre, Luke O'Sullivan and L Wright struck the Murrow goals to see off Lough Derg while Caherconlish beat Shelbourne on a penalty shoot-out after the sides finished 3-3. Cian Cronin (2) and C Meagher netted for Shels. D Connolly, R Moloney and Mike Koyce were the winning scorers.
In the Youth Premier League, Holycross pulled away as sole leaders following a 3-0 win at Regional Utd. John Pratt, Ali Zaidi and Michael Hanly were the winning scorers.
Pallas recorded a superb 3-2 win at Charleville to consolidate their place at the top of the Youth Division one table. Maksym Sarnavskyi scored both for the home side but goals from John O'Donoghue (2) and Josh McLaughlin secured the win.
A Lanzbergs and Pat Jackman were on the mark for Corbally Utd but they fell 5-2 to Lisnagry. Breen Ryan (2), Danny Nash (2) and Shane Gill were the winning scorers.
Kilmallock beat Pike by the odd goal in three. E Meagher netted for Pike but Jay Earls and Ronan Collins won it for Kilmallock.
C Aherne and D Mulcahy scored two apiece for Herbertstown AFC in a 4-1 win over Aisling for whom K Hanrahan obliged.
