LAST weekend’s Limerick District League Premier Division results did little to make a change to the leaderboard with the top three sides all drawing.

Fairview’s 1-1 draw with Ballynanty Rvs means the Champions maintain their two-point lead at the top. On Sunday they travel to a Nenagh side who have slipped into the relegation zone and in dire need of points.

Balla’ will be delighted with their showing last week but must continue that same effort in the lower-profile games. On Sunday they visit a Geraldines side, buzzing from their 4-1 win at Regional last weekend.

Geraldines have made some shrewd signings who are knotting in nicely and could make life difficult for the Blues. The return of Josh Adams to the Balla’ starting lineup gives the side a huge boost and the management some welcome headaches Ballynanty Rovers

After winning their opening three games, Pike have now dropped six points in their last three games, scoring just once in three draws.

On Sunday, they visit Athlunkard Villa A who are on a high after last weekend’s last minutes winner at Mungret Regional. Villa will have targeted certain games this season and Pike would not have been one so they have nothing to lose on Sunday and have proven can be a handful when less constrained.

Pike have strengthened the side over the last few weeks but have yet to click. That said, one spark is all they may need to start motoring. They will hope to kick off on Sunday. The final Premier game of the weekend is on Saturday evening when Regional Utd host Janesboro.

Regional’s position is a big surprise to most. They currently share the second relegation spot with Nenagh on ten points but six of those points were forfeits from Hyde Rgs.

‘Boro are only three points better off but a win on Sunday would see them create breathing space.

The one outstanding tie in the Munster Junior Cup will try a second time to get over the lien after their original fixture was postponed due to injury. Caherdavin Celtic led Aisling Annacotty B 2-0 at the time so they will be hoping for a repeat performance on Sunday.

In the Premier A League leaders Kilmallock Utd A welcome second placed Carew Limerick Utd. Kilmallock played out a tough 2-2 draw with Newport last Sunday while Carew went down to Caherdavin.

Three sides a point behind Carew will be hoping Kilmallock slip to bring them back into contention. One of this sides, Newport Town are in action at home to Summerville Rovers A.

Top games in Division 1A see Pallas Utd welcome Shelbourne A and Ballylanders host a rapidly improving Murroe A XI.

Division 1B leaders Ballynanty Rvs B face a Pike Rovers B side smarting from a shock defeat to Croom last weekend, which should make for a cracking tie. With two points separating four sides in Division 2A, there is plenty of drama. On Sunday leaders Lough Derg travel to joint third Herbertstown B where a home win could see the sides trade places.

Second placed Brazuca Utd will not have it easy at home to Abbey Rovers while Hyde will be hoping to keep pace when they visit Coonagh Utd. Caherdavin Celtic B will retain their grip on top spot in Division 2B if they defeat Corbally Utd C while in Division 3A it’s first v second when Shelbourne B host Murroe C.

The Munster Under 17 Cup continues with second round ties and two to watch out for are the clash of leaders Holycross at Aisling and Murroe A v Caherdavin Celtic.
