LIMERICK District League Premier League leaders Fairview Rgs kick off the action on Thursday evening when they welcome Geraldines to the Fairgreen.

The Blues are in flying form and it’s hard to see their gallop being stopped this weekend.

That said, Geraldines enjoy nothing better than upsetting the odds and they have plenty of experienced players in the squad.

However, the form of Darragh Rainsford and Co, along with the addition of former Treaty player Yoyo Mahdy suggests they will prove too strong.

On Saturday evening, Aisling Annacotty will be hoping last weekend’s win was the start of a consistent run when they host Athlunkard Villa.

By their own standards Aisling have been disappointing to date. They have a number of new signings and that will obviously take time to bed into the club.

They impressed in a 4-1 win over Geraldines last week and will be keen to keep the run going.
Villa shared the spoils with Nenagh last weekend but will be disappointed having lost a 3-1 lead.

They are playing well and will always pose a goal threat but are still learning about life in the top flight.

Second-placed Ballynanty Rvs host a Regional Utd in what should be an exciting affair on Sunday.
Balla are in fine form and their new signings are fitting in seamlessly.

Regional started inconsistently but seem to have settled now and will not fear the trip to Ballynanty Park. Janesboro gave Fairview a real battle last Sunday despite ending pointless. They travel to a Corbally Utd side finding their feet at this level.

Mungret Regional were also impressive last weekend drawing 1-1 with Pike Rvs. They will be favourites on Sunday at home to Nenagh but the Tipperary side have a number of youngsters who play with no fear and are capable of causing an upset.

Hyde Rangers are scheduled to take on Pike Rovers but sadly they will be unable to field a team after the majority of last years A squad now transferred out.

It’s a sad situation for such a club but it seems to be an annual event now, with many of today’s participants not fond of struggling through a season.

The Premier A league is turning into a battle royale with four teams locked together at the top of the table. Two of them clash on Sunday when Carew Limerick Utd host Regional Utd B. Newport A welcomes Caherdavin Celtic A while Kilmallock Utd take on a Star Rovers side just outside the top four. Herbertstown had a great win over Shels last Sunday and will be hoping to keep their run going at home to Cappamore.

Joint leaders Granville visit Corbally Utd B while Shelbourne will be hoping to bounce back on their trip to Holycross A, which is not an easy task.

A cracking game is on offer on Saturday evening in Division 1B when joint leaders Ballynanty Rvs B take on an in-form Pike Rvs B in TUS. Division 2A leaders Brazuca are not in action so Lough Derg have the chance to take over top spot if they win at Meanus.

Hyde Rangers B can keep their challenge on track if they win at Aisling Annacotty C as can Herbertstown B when they host Coonagh Utd B. Summerville Rvs B lead the way in Division 2B but they could be leapfrogged by Caherdavin B should they lose. Mungret Regional C are well in the mix and they visit Geraldines B.

Division 3A leaders Shelbourne B can keep their charge going if they can beat neighbours Ballynanty Rvs C. Lurking behind them are Athlunkard Villa C and Murroe who cross swords in Lee Estate.
