FOLLOWING on from their superb win in the Tom Hand Cup final a couple of weeks back, Fairview Rangers were on the road again this Sunday to meet Coachford in the Munster Champions Cup, but on this occasion, they left Cork empty handed, going down 4-3 in a penalty shoot out after the sides finished 2-2.

The opening half was evenly poised when Adam Dore struck a superb goal to put the Limerick junior soccer side ahead but on the stroke of half time, Murphy netted for the home side.

The second half continued much in the same vein with little to choose between the sides.

When Gbadebo Habideen restored Fairview’s lead 20-minutes from time, it looked like another memorable result was on the cards for the blues.

A dogged Coachford XI, dug in and got their reward ten minutes from time through Jamie Griffin.

Penalties were required to separate the sides during which the Cork side held their nerve to edge through 4-3.

FAIRVIEW RANGERS: Josh McCarthy, Jake Dillon, Blake Curran, Thomas O'Connor, Jason Cross, Shane Carmody, Oleg Vysochan, Rubin McCarthy, Gbadebo Habideen, Adam Dore, Brian Aherne. Sub: Darragh Rainsford.
