Fairview Rangers defeated Baldoyle 4-0 in their first round game at The Fairgreen

FAIRVIEW Rangers progressed to the next round of the FAI Senior Cup following a 4-0 win over Leinster Senior side Baldoyle United in their first round tie at the Fairgreen on Saturday afternoon.

It was the perfect preparation for Fairview ahead of next weekend’s big FAI junior Cup final against North End and Mike Sheil and Paul O’Donnell will be delighted with another impressive display.

The home side broke the deadlock on the half hour mark when Oleg Vysochan curled the ball into the top corner from 18 yards.

The lead was doubled just before half time when Adam Dore scored from close range after Jeffery Judge's initial ruling effort was parried by keeper Abraham.

Fairview held their lead comfortably in the second half and as the game fizzled out, the home side added another brace of goals.

On 88 minutes, Vysochan was fouled in the area and duly converted the resultant penalty kick and with time running out, Brian Aherne completed the scoring finishing from 6 yards.

Photographer Brendan Gleeson captured all the colour and excitement from the game for the Limerick Leader.
