Mixed fortunes for Limerick clubs in Munster Hurling Championship

LIMERICK champions Na Piarsaigh lost out to Ballygunner once again in the Munster senior hurling club championship at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on yesterday afternoon.Limerick star William O'Donoghue missed Na Piarsaigh's 0-18 to 0-15 Munster SHC quarter-final defeat due to a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, Garryspillane were defeated by Tallow of Waterford 3-18 to 3-16 in the Munster club intermediate hurling quarter-final in Fraher Field on Saturday afternoon.Limerick senior hurler Hugh Flanagan was on target with an impressive 3-11 for the Bouncers.

Knockaderry survived a late scare before securing a 2-16 to 2-14 victory over Kerry's Kenmare Shamrocks in difficult conditions in the Munster club junior hurling quarter-final in Templenoe on Saturday. Knockaderry scored 1-7 without reply in the closing stages to edge past the Kerrymen and book their place in the Munster semi-final against Kilbrittain, of Cork in two weeks’ time.

Meanwhile, Mungret St Paul's and Newcastle West will contest this year's Limerick senior football championship final on Sunday next at 3;30pm in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale

Newcastle West needed extra time to get past Fr Casey's winning out 2-16 to 0-14 in the SFC semi-final in Rathkeale.
Mungret St Paul's stunned reigning county champions Adare 0-17 to 1-13 in the other SFC semi-final to book a first final appearance in 24 years.

Na Piarsaigh were relegated down to Limerick intermediate football ranks after suffering a 1-14 to 0-13 play-off defeat to Ballylanders in Doon on Saturday afternoon.
