GARRYSPILLANE are celebrating their return to Limerick senior hurling ranks. The Knocklong side confirmed their promotion after they defeated Effin 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out in the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling final.

An absorbing final ebbed and flowed and it took the penalty shoot-out to decide the winners after the sides were level 4-19 to 2-25 after extra-time. A thrilling final saw the south Limerick rivals finish level, 2-14 each, after normal time.

Garryspillane will now switch their focus to the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship. Aaron Considine's side face Tallow on November 2 in the Munster IHC quarter-final at 1:30pm in a Waterford venue.Manager Aaron Considine is looking forward to the Munster championship.

“I'd love a rattle at a Munster club, if we can get over the few injuries now in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we'll have a fair rattle at it,” said Considine.

Garryspillane last took part in the Munster IHC in 2018 when they were defeated by Clonea of Waterford at the quarter-final stage. Captain Colin Ryan feels Garryspillane didn't do themselves justice last time out in Munster.

“We probably didn't do ourselves justice the last time we were playing Munster club. We've two weeks, we'll enjoy this and we will rally the troops again. We're going down to Waterford, but we feel we can go a bit further,” added Ryan.
