Limerick Leader senior hurling championship team of the week

THERE were a number of standout performances in round three of the Whitebox Limerick senior hurling championship. Leader Sport picks their team of the week from the six games that took place senior hurling championship last weekend. 

1. Conor Hanley Clarke (Kilmallock) 

Conor Hanley Clarke was part of the Limerick senior hurling squad earlier this year. The Kilmallock shotstopper landed 0-3 from placed balls in is side's draw with Doon last Thursday. 

2. Ronan Lynch (Na Piarsaigh) 3. Robbie Egan (Kilmallock) 4. Ned Quinn (Ballybrown)

Ronan Lynch has made this switch into the Na Piarsaigh full back line this year. Lynch landed 0-3 long range frees and 0-2 65's in the Caherdavin's side victory over Ahane. James Hickey made the decision to deploy Robbie Egan as the Kilmallock full back and Egan did a terrific man marking job on Kevin Maher. Ballybrown corner back Ned Quinn has been a consistent performer for Kevin Lally's side in the Limerick SHC and Quinn had another solid performance in Ballybrown's victory over Patrickswell. 

5. Lorcan Lyons (Monaleen) 6. Barry Murphy (Doon) 7. David Fitzgerald (Kildimo-Pallaskenry)

Monaleen wing back Lorcan Lyons provides the Castletroy side with a physical presence in the half back line and the former Limerick hurler was one of the standout performers for Eoin Brislane's side against Mungret St Paul's. In his second season playing number six for Doon, Barry Murphy is starting to excel in the role. Kildimo-Pallaskenry defender David Fitzgerald finished with 0-3 in their defeat to Adare. 

8. Adam English (Doon 9. David O'Mahoney (Adare)

Adam English has probably been one of the best hurlers in this year's championship. English drifted between midfield and the half forward line and he was on target with 0-13 in Doon's draw with Kilmallock. Adare's David O'Mahoney popped up with 0-2 from play which saw Mark Foley's side register their first win of the Limerick SHC last weekend.

10. Aidan O'Connor (Ballybrown) 11.Oisin O'Reilly (Kilmallock) 12. Eoin Hurley (Newcastle West)

Ballybrown sharpshooter Aidan O'Connor produced a captains performer scoring 0-10 to secure a victory for the Clarina side over Patrickswell for the first time since 1991. Kilmallock forward Oisin O'Reilly's pace has caused defences plenty of problems in the SHC and O'Reilly landed 1-2 in round three against Doon. Eoin Hurley nailed 0-4 in Newcastle West's third draw of the championship against Dromin-Athlacaa. 

13. Ross Griffin (Ballybrown) 14. Donnacha Ó Dálaigh (Monaleen) 15. Adrian Breen (Na Piarsaigh)

The lively Ross Griffin hit 1-1 in Ballybrown's second victory in group one of the Limerick SHC which now puts them in a strong position to reach the knockoout stages. Donnacha Ó Dálaigh stood out in the Monaleen full forward line as the Limerick hurler hit 1-4 to continue his side's unbeaten record in group two. In the absence of Peter Casey and Conor Boylan, Na Piarsaigh corner forward Adrian Breen was off the mark with 1-3 against Ahane.
