PICTURES: Limerick stars take part in Hurling for Cancer Research charity match

Darragh O'Donovan, Tom Morrissey, Dan Morrissey and John Kiely all took part in this year's event

A NUMBER of Limerick hurling stars took part in this year's Hurling for Cancer charity match at Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow.

Limerick hurlers Darragh O'Donovan, Tom Morrissey and Dan Morrissey lined out for 'Jim Bolger's All Stars' as manager John Kiely was in the dugout to give former Wexford hurling manager Liam Griffin a helping hand.

The took on 'Davy Russell's Best', a team managed by the legendary Brian Cody and current Tipperary manager Liam Cahill. 

It was the Limerick men who ran out victors on what was a special occasion, played in front of a huge crowd in Netwatch Cullen Park. 

The score finished 9-25 to 8-14 in favour of 'Jim Bolger's Best.' 

It was an evening where smiles were more important than scores as the annual charity match continues to raise vital funds for cancer research in Ireland. 

To date, Hurling for Cancer Research has raised an incredible €1.66m for cancer research.
