Two games down for decision in Limerick club hurling championships this evening

THERE are two games down for decision in the Limerick club hurling championships this evening. County senior champions Doon take on Patrickswell in round two of the Whitebox Limerick senior hurling championship in Kilmallock at 7pm. Glenroe and South Liberties will be hoping to register their win in the Limerick premier intermediate hurling championship in Doon at 7pm.

Patrickswell v Doon in Kilmallock on Thursday at 7pm

Patrickswell suffered a defeat to Kilmallock, while Doon were held by Na Piarsaigh in round one. The Well will look to register more scores from play this week after only scoring 0-4 from play, while their other 0-14 came from frees.

Two Adam English frees and an effort from Pat Ryan was enough for Doon to rescue a point in round one. Doon lined out with fourteen of their winning county final starting XV with the only change coming i n goals, with Darragh Stapleton making the switch to the number one jersey.

The sides met last year in the Limerick SHC semi-finals when Doon got the better of Patrickswell.

Verdict: Doon

Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship

Glenroe v South Liberties on Thursday in Doon at 7pm

Glenroe have showed signs of improvement in the early stages of the championship. Danny Murphy's side were unlucky not to get a something from their round one defeat to Granagh-Ballingarry and Glenroe played out a draw with Effin last week and they will look to build on that this week.Darren Frewen who was part of the Limerick U20 hurling panel this year has been on target wit 0-17 during the PIHC. 

South Liberties will be disappointed with their start to the premier intermediate championship. Liberties have suffered two heavy defeats in their opening two games in the PIHC After suffering relegation from the senior ranks in 2024, Ken Byrnes free taking has been crucial for the city club.

Verdict: Glenroe
