THE LIMERICK senior hurling stars will return to club championship action this week. Six games are down for decision across Groups One and Two in the senior hurling championship on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Group One features county champions Doon, Na Piarsaigh, Kilmallock, Patrickswell, Ahane and Ballybrown. Meanwhile, Group Two consists of Mungret St Paul's , Monaleen, Kildimo-Pallaskenry, Dromin-Athlacca, Newcastle West and Adare.
Each club is guaranteed five group games, with the top two teams in Group One advancing directly to the SHC semi-finals. Third and fourth-placed sides in Group One will meet the first and second-placed sides in Group Two in the quarter-finals. The first placed side in Group Two will also be promoted to Group One for the 2026 season.
Bottom place in Group One will be relegated to Group Two for the 2026 season, while bottom place in Group Two is relegated to the premier intermediate ranks.
Kilmallock and Patrickswell get Group One of the senior hurling championship underway on Thursday evening at 7pm in Newcastle West. Meanwhile, the 2024 Group Two winners Ballybrown take on Ahane in Claughaun on Saturday at 3pm.
Na Piarsaigh and Doon meet in a repeat of the 2024 county final on Saturday in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 7pm.

Derek McGrath remains the manager of the Doon senior hurling team. McGrath guided the East Limerick club to their first ever senior hurling championship title last year. Shane O'Neill is heading into his third year in-a-row in charge of Na Piarsaigh in his second term in charge of the club.
James Hickey has replaced Peter Queally as Kilmallock senior hurling manager. Ciaran Carey has stepped down as Patrickswell senior hurling boss. Declan O'Grady, who was previously a selector with Patrickswell in 2019, takes charge of the ‘Well.
John Meskell continues his role as Ahane senior hurling manager.Former Galway senior hurling selector Kevin Lally is the new Ballybrown senior hurling manager. Lally worked as a selector under Henry Shefflin with the Galway senior hurling team from 2022 until 2024.
Meanwhile, in Group Two of the Limerick senior hurling championship, Adare and Monaleen get proceedings underway in Fedamore on this Thursday evening at 7pm.
2024 Premier Intermediate champions Newcastle West meet Mungret St Paul's in Mick Neville Park on Friday at 7pm.
The final game of the weekend sees the clash of Kildimo-Pallaskenry and Dromin-Athlacca in Ballyagran on Saturday at 7pm.
Declan Nash is the manager of the Kildimo-Pallaskenry senior hurling and football teams. Tipperary native Eoin Brislane is now entering into his fourth year in charge of Monaleen.
Derry McMahon, who guided Newcastle West to the premier intermediate hurling championship last year, remains in charge of ‘the Magpies’.
Dromin-Athlacca retained their senior status last year. Darren Moynihan is in charge of the South Limerick club in 2025.
Mungret St Paul's suffered relegation from Group One of the SHC in 2024. Former Limerick hurler Brian Begley continues his role as manager of the side. Former Limerick hurler Mark Foley takes charge of his native club Adare.
Meanwhile, in the Limerick premier intermediate championship, there were opening round wins for Croagh-Kilfinny, Granagh-Ballingarry, Blackrock and Garryspillane.
