TIPPERARY'S Sam O'Farrell captained the 'Premier County' to All-Ireland U20 hurling championship title last Saturday afternoon in UPMC Nowlan Park. Tipp defeated Kilkenny 3-19 to 1-16 in the All-Ireland U20 hurling final.
Sam O'Farrell has enjoyed a breakthrough year with the Tipperary senior hurlers. The Nenagh Éire Óg clubman captained Tipperary to All Ireland minor success in 2022.
Sam O'Farrell's father Paul and his uncles Nicky and Noel played for Na Piarsaigh GAA club in Limerick. As Paul O'Farrell moved onto adult hurling with the Caherdavin club, he played a key role in winning County Championships with the U21's in 1989, Junior in 1990 and captaining the intermediate team in 1994, which obtained senior status for the club.

Sam's father Paul represented Limerick at minor, U21 and senior and was the first Na Piarsaigh man to play senior inter-county Championship hurling in 1991.
Paul moved to Scotland in the mid 90's to further his medical studies and is currently a GP in Nenagh.
Paul's brothers Nicky and Noel also gave great service to the city based club. Nicky won an All Ireland U21 in 1987 followed by a National Hurling League with Limerick in 1992.
Sam played with Nenagh Éire Óg in the Na Piarsaigh annual Conal O'Cahalane Cup in 2015.
