LIMERICK will switch focus to their Allianz Hurling League round seven clash against Wexford. The Shannonsiders host Wexford on Saturday March 22 in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

"We still have another game to play next weekend. We would like to finish the league on a positive note and we have to go back to the drawing board now. And come back next week a better team" said Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely.

Limerick's defeat to Kilkenny yesterday now means they cannot reach this year's Division 1A league final. Manager John Kiely was disappointed that his side suffered their second defeat of the Allianz League.

“Believe me, I’m not happy that we haven’t won our game today, I can assure you of that. It was everything in our intent to win our game and to win our game next weekend regardless of what the outcome was.

For us, (a league final) two weeks into the championship followed by another two-week break into the following round, it wasn’t something daunting, it wasn’t something that undesirable to us. We were quite prepared to go that route but listen we’re not going that route now and that’s it. It’s out of our hands and we won’t be in the league final.”

After Limerick's 0-29 to 0-20 defeat to Kilkenny on Saturday afternoon afternoon, Kiely confirmed that Cathal O'Neill went off with a hamstring injury in the first half. Limerick defender Dan Morrissey will resume training next week and both Declan Hannon and Darragh O'Donovan trained on last Saturday morning.

Kyle Hayes and Gearoid Hegarty missed last Saturday's clash against Kilkenny and Kiely expects both players to be back on the pitch soon.
