DEREK McGrath will continue his role as Doon senior hurling manager for the 2025 season.

The Waterford man guided Doon to their first ever Limerick senior hurling championship title in 2024. Adam English's free late on proved to be the difference as Doon narrowly defeated Na Piarsaigh in the Limerick SHC final.

McGrath will now enter into his second year in charge of the east Limerick club. This news comes as a huge boost to Doon's 2025 championship aspirations.

Tom Murphy, Paul Keane and Dinny Moloney will all be part of McGrath's backroom team for the second year in-a-row.

Murphy feels it is a massive positve for Doon to have Derek McGrath in charge of the club for another year.

"Derek really knitted the whole thing together for us here in the club. He's the most organised hurling man, I've ever worked with. He just brought something extra this year to Doon. We got over the line and probably could have went a step further if things went our way.

"We're not saying we are going to win a county title because they are very hard to win but we're going to give it a fair rattle. It's great that all of us are staying together. We know what we have. Now we have a couple of really good young fella's coming up and hopefully they will try and break into the team. It creates a bit of competition for players. That's we want and that's what the club wants" said Doon senior hurling selector Tom Murphy.

Doon clubmen Adam English, Darragh O'Donovan, Barry Murphy, Chris Thomas and Eddie Stokes are all part of the Limerick senior hurling panel.

The county champions will now have the services of Richie English for the full duration of the 2025 season. English announced his retirement from inter-county hurling last Thursday.
