DOON are into the Bon Secours Limerick SHC semi-finals following a 1-25 to 0-21 victory over Mungret St Paul's in the first of today's quarter-finals.
Adam English was the star turn for Fergie OLoughlin's side with a scoring haul of 1-9. That was all the more impressive as he was carrying an ankle injury from early on in the contest.
Mungret, who secured promotion to Group One for next year, had their chances but were undone by a very impressive second half showing from the east Limerick side.
The team were level nine times throughout and at 0-15 each at the break, but it was Doon that edged clear thanks to 1-4 without reply from the 33rd to 32nd minutes.
Jack Ryan, Darragh O'Donovan and two from English saw them four to the good and then the mercurial Doon number nine powered a stunning shot into the top corner to see his side 1-19 to 0-15 to the good.
Mungret hit back with four in a row to bring Doon's lead back to that goal from English but through English, Barry Murphy, Donal Coughlan and Pat Ryan, O'Loughlin's men powered to a 1-25 to 0-21 victory.
They now play Na Piarsaigh in the semi-final in two weeks time.
