ABBEYFEALE apprentice Joe Harnett had his claim reduced to 7lbs as he recorded his third career success when winning the 12-furlong handicap on the Mark Fahey-trained Clear Quartz at Roscommon on Monday evening last.

The 12/1 chance came home a length and three-parts clear of the 5/1 shot Granite Bay which is trained by Fahey’s uncle Jarlath Fahey.

Moyross jockey Wesley Joyce landed his second success this season on the Kevin Smith-trained Gangsta Man in the seven-furlong handicap at Gowran Park on Tuesday. The 5/1 chance added to a win at Roscommon in May when battling well in the straight to get the better of Ger Lyons’ 9/4 favourite Washington Street and Colin Keane by a neck.

The Jessica O’Gorman-ridden Arena which added to a recent Navan success when landing the 10-furlong apprentice handicap at Down Royal on Friday. Trained by Edward and Patrick Harty, the 7/2 favourite made all the running and only had to be pushed put to win by three-parts of a length from Paul Sweeney’s 13/2 chance God Knows.

Trainer Gerard Kyne recorded his first winner on the racecourse as the Gary Noonan-ridden Whatyouwant landed the three-mile one-furlong handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan on Friday evening.

Owned by Danny Grealish, the 80/1 chance got on top close to the finish for his Newcastle West jockey to beat the Emmet Mullins-trained 4/5 favourite Rising Dust by half a length.

Shanagolden's Chris Hayes shared back-to-back winners with Dermot Weld as they won both divisions of the eight-furlong fillies’ maiden with horses owned by the late Aga Khan at Navan on Saturday.

The 4/1 chance Katashuna led passing the two-pole as she won the opening leg by a length and three-parts from the Andrew Slattery-trained 85/40 chance Therewillbeglory while 11/8 favourite Shamalza held the late challenge of Ken Condon’s 25/1 chance Marmeladova by a nose as she landed division two.
