BUS Éireann has thanked members of the public in Limerick who supported its recent 'Fill a Bus' campaign in aid of Mid West Simon.

“We were overwhelmed with the response from the people of Limerick once again this year," commented Marie King, regional sales and marketing manager with the transport provider.

As part of the event, which took place on Thursday, December 8, Bus Éireann reserved a bus at Colbert Station in Limerick allowing members of the public to make donations which were then placed on board.

“Mid West Simon will use their generous donations to help the vulnerable, homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary. These vital contributions will ensure that many people in need will get to enjoy Christmas this year," added Ms King.

Mid West Simon Community is the largest homeless services provider in the Mid West Region. It supports individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or experiencing housing difficulties.

The organisation operates foodbanks in Limerick, Ennis and Nenagh and has provided food to 6,780 individuals as well as 24,484 food parcels so far in 2022.

Mid West Simon Community has also supported 704 individual people in emergency accommodation this year, and they have provided permanent homes for a further 211 people throughout the Mid-West region.
