Wendy's flagship restaurant in the city of Dublin, Ohio
POPULAR American burger chain Wendy’s has declined to comment on whether it plans to open an outlet in Limerick.
Wendy’s has announced it will expand to Ireland. To this end, it’s seeking franchisees to run its restaurants here.
So far, there are more than 7,000 Wendy’s branches worldwide including 25 in Britain.
The fast-food joint best known for its square hamburgers, salads, and other products like chilli, baked potatoes and the Frosty dessert.
When asked if it has plans to open in Limerick, a Wendy’s spokesperson said: “We are currently exploring options across Ireland.”
Abigail Pringle, president, international and chief development officer of the Wendy’s Company said: “We are focused on building long-term relationships with franchisees in Ireland who want to grow with us, share our values and reflect the communities in which we operate.”
Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, opened the first Wendy’s restaurant in Columbus, Ohio in 1969. Ironically, it is now headquartered in the Ohio city of Dublin, named by its founder John Sells after the Irish capital.
