Collision on motorway near Limerick as vehicle hits animal

A FULL road closure is in place and emergency services are at the scene of a collision on the M7 motorway near Limerick.

It's understood that a driver of a vehicle hit an animal forcing the incident between junction 27 at Birdhill and junction 28, which provides access to the Mackey Roundabout, Annacotty and Castletroy.

Four units of Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance from the city, along with one from Newport.

The incident was reported at 5.30pm this Thursday evening, and five units attending is the standard number for any road accident.

It's not known if there have been any serious injuries.

A full road closure is in place and lengthy delays have been reported.
