A MAN has been hospitalised following a "serious" stabbing at an apartment in Limerick city centre.

Gardai in Henry St in Limerick are investigating a stabbing incident which occurred at approximately 3.49pm this afternoon, Monday 22nd July.

According to the gardai, a man in his 20s received stab wounds in an apartment at River Point Apartments, off Mallow St in Limerick. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he is been treated for his injuries.

According to a gardai source, the man has been taken to University Hospital Limerick, where his condition has been described as "serious". 

Investigations are continuing.

According to gadai, a man (age unknown) was arrested on the Dock Rd, Limerick a short time later in connection with this investigation. He is currently detained at Henry St garda station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai, National Ambulance Service and Limerick Fire Service were dispatched to the scene of the incident at around 4pm. 

It is understood that the male presented himself to a member of staff at a nearby business on Henry Street with apparent stab wound to his abdomen.
