A NEW home has been found for a grieving dog, who was heartbroken after the death of his beloved owner, following a public appeal from a Limerick animal shelter.

Little Gordon, who prompted a public appeal to find him a new home after he was pictured looking so sad while living in kennels, has found a new home, Limerick Animal Welfare confirmed.

“Grieving Gordon whose sad photo caused a huge outpouring of sympathy for him has found a home with his partner Mabel.”

“Both dogs are going to be pampered and loved for the rest of their lives. We love a happy ending,” the group said.

Two weeks ago, Limerick Animal Welfare posted a photo of Gordon across social media.

“Gordon is looking so sad as his beloved owner has died and he is in kennels waiting for a home,” the group said, seeking help in locating a new home for the heartbroken pup.

Hundreds of people viewed and shared the post in the hope of finding Gordon a new home as soon as possible.

The Rubberbandits also appealed for support on Twitter.

“Can someone in Limerick please give this poor sad old boy a loving and caring home. He’s grieving for his owner and it’s piercing me to my core.”

Limerick Animal Welfare can be contacted at 087 6371044 between 9am and 5pm.
