The site of a former lap-dancing club is among a number of derelict properties Limerick City and County Council intends to compulsorily acquire across the city and county.
The local authority has published a tranche of public notices under the provisions of the Derelict Sites Act 1990, outlining the details of the properties which it intends acquiring.
The sites in the city centre include a number of commercial properties which previously operated as pubs, music venues and lap-dancing clubs.
The buildings are located at 34-41 Catherine Street and at 43-46 Cecil Street. Both sites have been idle for some time and were both placed on the Derelict Sites Register a number of years ago.
The council is also proposing to acquire a number of residential properties in several towns and villages.
These include a two-storey detached house at Athea Upper, Athea; two semi-detached two-storey houses at Moore Street, Cappamore; a two-storey residential property at Knight Street, Ballingarry; a two-story house at Main Street, Cappamore; a detached bungalow at Parkmore, Shanagolden and a two-story residential property at Ardpatrick, Kilmallock.
While most of the properties were added the Derelict Sites Register in recent years, the house at Knight Street, Ballingarry has been derelict for more than 25 years while the property at Athea Upper has been on the Derelict Sites Register since 2010.
The council has not outlined what plans, if any, it has for any of the sites.
Any objections from owners, tenants or occupants of any of the properties have until April 29 to object, in writing, to the proposed CPO.
Separately, Limerick City and County Council has confirmed it has acquired number of houses in the city under the provisions of the Housing Act 1966.
The houses are located at Larch Court, Kennedy Park, Hyde Road, Prospect and at Sheelin Road, Caherdavin.
Details of the proposed CPOs will be forwarded to An Bord Pleanala for its consideration.
If objections are received, it is open to the An Bord Pleanala to hold an oral hearing before making a final decision.
Any objections from owners, tenants or occupants of any of the three properties have until May 1 to object.
