GARDAI are appealing to motorists to properly secure their cars when parking them overnight.
“A number of cars were broken into in the last week and in all of them property was on display - property like jackets, a wallet and a purse,” said divisional crime prevention officer, Sergeant Ber Leetch
“None of these items were particularly valuable but the cost of repairing the car windows can run into hundreds of euro,” she added.

Around a third of cars which are targeted by thieves are unlocked while the most common items which are stolen from cars includes cash, laptops, tools, sunglasses, jewellery and sports equipment.
