Mayor of Limerick to launch new historical resource

Mayor James Collins will launch new film which will see the entire back catalogue of the North Munster Antiquarian Journal made available on www.limerick.ie.

A MAJOR new historical resource is to be made available at the City Library.

Mayor James Collins will next Wednesday, February 20, launch new film which will see the entire back catalogue of the North Munster Antiquarian Journal made available on www.limerick.ie.

It will see a new, free online source of over 10,000 pages of history writing mainly focused on Limerick, but also Clare and North Tipperary.

Earlier in the week, the Thomond archeological and historical society will hold a talk focused on the Barrington family and its links to Limerick.

It will be given by Fr Brian Murphy, a member of the Benedictine Community of Glenstal Abbey, and the author of a recent book in the Barrington’s and the death of the only daughter of Sir Charles Barrington.

The venue for the lecture is Room at Mary Immaculate College in the South Circular Road, Limerick at 8.00pm on Monday, February 18. All are welcome to the talk, which will be free.
