Road reopens after pedestrian is injured in Limerick road crash

A PEDESTRIAN has been injured in a road traffic collision in Limerick city this Monday evening. 

According to witnesses, a woman was struck at a pedestrian crossing between Mount Kennett and Steamboat Quay on the Dock Road. 

At 4.20pm, Limerick Fire Service dispatched three units to the scene, and returned to the Mulgrave Street base at around 5pm. 

An Garda Siochana and the National Ambulance Service attended the scene at around 4.20pm. The truck involved in the incident was present at the scene. 

According to witnesses, they heard “screaming" at the time of the incident, and that the woman was crossing the road when the collision occurred.

A spokesperson for the gardai told the Limerick Leader: "A woman was injured in the collision, but not believed to be seriously injured. She was taken to hospital for treatment. The road has reopened."
