LIMERICK CITY and County Council’s (LCCC) vital role in supporting quality living across the city and county is being celebrated this Friday, June 27, as part of Your Council Day 2025.

LCCC will join local authorities across Ireland for this national campaign promoting the vital work of local authorities and the people behind the services that support our communities every day.

This year’s theme, Building Stronger Communities, highlights how local authorities foster environments where people feel connected, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Coordinated by the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) and supported by all 31 local authorities, Your Council Day is an opportunity to showcase the wide range of services councils provide.

From Limerick’s parks and libraries to essential community and environmental services, Limerick City and County Council’s work touches the lives of people in Limerick every day.

These services—spanning arts, heritage, sports, housing, road maintenance, and more—are central to the wellbeing, health, and quality of life of residents and visitors alike.

On social media, the hashtags #YourCouncilDay and #DoLáSaChomhairle will spotlight the people behind the services and the impact of their work.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran speaking about the event said, “Your Council Day is a moment to shine a light on the incredible work being done by our teams across the Council. From housing to heritage, from clean streets to creative spaces, their efforts are shaping a more liveable, more prosperous, and more healthy Limerick."

"I’ve seen first-hand the passion and professionalism of our staff, and I’m proud to stand with them as we build a city and county that works for everyone.”

Dr. Pat Daly, Director General of Limerick City and County Council, added, “We’re proud to mark Your Council Day by showcasing the breadth of services we provide—over 700 in total. These services are delivered in partnership with our communities, businesses, and stakeholders, and they reflect our shared ambition for Limerick."

"Council staff are deeply embedded in communities, working with dedication and pride to make Limerick a better place to live, work, and visit. I encourage everyone to follow our social media channels to see the stories, videos, and photos that highlight the people and projects making a difference every day” said Dr. Daly.

Residents are encouraged to join the conversation and celebrate the people and services that help make Limerick thrive.
