UISCE Éireann crews will begin works this week to improve the water supply in Limerick city, by replacing over 1km of old and damaged watermains.
The watermains, which are prone to frequent bursts and leakage, will be replaced and upgraded with new modern pipes.
The section of works will take place along Brookville Avenue, from the crossroads with Clonmacken Road and end at the roundabout onto Cratloe Road.
Traffic management will be in place in the form of a stop/go system and motorists can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
The works may also require some short-term water supply interruptions.

Programme manager for Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction, Brian McCarthy, said: “This essential project is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling these communities to thrive.
“By replacing these old watermains, we will reduce the instances of bursts... and reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost”.
The works will be carried out by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann and are expected to be completed by June 2025.
