Alan Dempsey and his partner Michelle Nicholas
FORMER Limerick hurler Alan Dempsey and his partner Michelle Nicholas made a sparkling start to the new year with their engagement.
The happy couple announced their heart-warming plans to get married last weekend ahead of the arrival of the cold snap to Limerick.
Na Piarsaigh GAA star Dempsey, played senior hurling with Limerick from 2013-17 - just missing out on the All-Ireland success of recent years.
Underage success with Ardscoil Ris and LIT culminated with a Munster U21 hurling title in the green of Limerick in 2011. That elevated Dempsey into the senior colours of Limerick and he was part of the panel that won Limerick’s first Munster senior hurling title in 17 years in 2013.
Dempsey was one of the stars of Na Piarsaigh’s historic All-Ireland club title win in 2016.

His former Limerick team-mate Dan Morrissey also got engaged in recent weeks to his long-term partner Yvonne Maher.
