Firefighters at the Pallas Bar and Bistro on Wednesday night, October 30
THE OWNER of a bar and bistro in Pallasgreen which was damaged in a fire has said “we are a strong team and will be doing everything to return to business as usual”.
Popular proprietor William Crowe said they are “committed to our loyal customers and our staff of 25 whose livelihoods rely on our business and your custom”.
Firefighters spent over three hours late on Wednesday night, October 30 at the scene of the blaze. It is understood the fire started due to an electrical fault.
A post on the Pallas Bar and Bistro's Facebook page reads: "Firstly, we’d like to thank the fire brigades who addressed the situation and curtailed the incident. We are grateful that, as we are closed Wednesdays, nobody was hurt.
"It is with great regret that we will be closed until further notice while we assess the damage in full cooperation with the fire officers. We thank them for their support."
"We are committed to our loyal customers and our staff of 25 whose livelihoods rely on our business and your custom."
The statement concludes: "Thank you as ever for your messages of support. We are a strong team and will be doing everything to return to business as usual."
Cllr Martin Ryan said he was “very disappointed to hear of a well regarded and popular local business being affected in this way”.
Cllr Noreen Stokes added that she was shocked and saddened.
“The establishment run by William Crowe and his team provides employment to local students and was the life and soul of our village. Mr Crowe is a huge support to all the local organisations and I hope the bistro will be back in business as soon as possible,” said Cllr Stokes.
The Pallas Bar and Bistro, in the former Chaser’s pub, opened just two days before Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. Staff, along with volunteers, started running a meals on wheels service which proved to be an invaluable service for many living in the locality.
After restrictions eased it grew to become a popular dining spot and watering hole on the N24.
