THE people of Limerick have elected the 40 councillors who will be their public representatives on the newly configured Limerick City and County Council for the next five years.
There will be a number of new faces in the Council Chamber with ten first time councillors elected. Twelve female councillors were elected.
Five outgoing councillors were unsuccessful in retaining their seats - Michael Sheahan FG, Sasa Novak Uí Chonchúir GP, Mike Donegan FF, Tom Collopy SF, Michael Murphy FG.
Kevin Sheahan FG, Gerald Mitchell FG, John Egan FG, James Collins FF and Emmett O’Brien NP did not seek re-election.

The first meeting of the new Limerick City and County Council will take place in the Council Chambers, Dooradoyle on June 21.
The councillors will sit on a reshaped council due to the introduction of a directly elected mayor.
