Justice spokesperson visits Limerick garda station

'Rural garda stations have to cover vast stretches of geography'
FIANNA Fáil Justice spokesperson, Jim O'Callaghan TD, visited Bruff garda station during a trip to County Limerick.
He joined mayoral candidate Dee Ryan and Al Fitzgerald, who is running for the council.
The trio were briefed on issues surrounding local policing and safety by Sergeant Tadgh Reeves of Bruff Garda Station who also showed the party's Justice Spokesperson around the top-of-the-range facilities at the station.
Finding solutions to issues ranging from road safety to rural burglaries and an uptick in drug usage were among the topics discussed on the day.
Speaking after the briefing, Mr Fitzgerald said: “This was an extremely insightful briefing from Sergeant Reeves, who provided an invaluable insight into our local gardaí's efforts to tackle everything from road safety to burglaries and make Bruff and the surrounding areas safer.
"One thing that is abundantly clear from the briefing is that rural garda stations have to cover vast stretches of geography and require increased resources to do so effectively. I am pleased to confirm that Deputy O'Callaghan pledged to bring the various issues raised on the ground to the attention of the Minister for Justice and her officials."
