Bus goes through rather than around Limerick roundabout

A pole was knocked and a tree narrowly missed in the collision

A BUS went straight through a roundabout - hitting a pole and narrowly avoiding a tree - on the outskirts of Adare, Limerick Live has learned

It is not known how many people were on the bus on the busy route from Dublin to Kerry.

Traffic is often backed up to that roundabout at peck times but as it occurred on a Sunday morning of a bank holiday weekend, traffic volumes were quiet.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a bus on the N21 in the Adare area of County Limerick at approximately 8.25am on May 6, 2024."

The garda spokesperson said no injuries were reported. Remedial works have been carried out at the roundabout.

A photo of an "out of service" bus, with damage to its front, parked in Adare has been widely shared on social media.

It is not known what caused the collision.
