A LIMERICK city man hosted Prince Albert of Monaco in the principality's exclusive Yacht Club.

Lee Mulcahy, originally from North Circular Road in the city, held a gala dinner in aid of the Atlantic Youth Trust Ireland, which exists to build life skills in youths across the island of Ireland.

He is the director of fundraising for the charity in Monaco, one of his many roles in the principality on the French Riviera.

His Serene Highness Prince Albert II was joined by a number of other A-list guests, including Michael and Niamh Flatley and Formula One mogul Eddie Jordan.

Support for the gala dinner also came from Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of budget airline EasyJet.

Now an annual event in the Monaco calendar, this initiative raises vital funds for the trust, that connects Ireland’s 15-22 year olds with the ocean, environment and adventure.

Robert’s focus, on the evening, was to support and promote Irish artists who provided works of art for the live auction on the evening, with the proceeds going to the Atlantic Youth Trust.

Mr said: "As the centre of Europe’s yachting capital, Monaco is the ideal location for this annual maritime charity gala, the Irish and Monégasque supporters came out in force for this worthy cause, for youth development."
