THE PERSON responsible for clearing rubbish from a County Limerick site is now in doubt, as the land has been sold.

The issue came before Kilmallock District Court.

The court heard that at the time Limerick City and County Council approached the then land owner, Desmond O’Brien, to remove waste from his land, that he was already in the process of selling it.

The waste is still on the property at Ardkilmartin in Kilmallock, but the court heard that Mr O’Brien no longer has the authority or power to remove it.

Solicitor Will Leahy told the court that the council just want the rubbish removed from the site, but who that responsibility falls to, is now in doubt.

The case will be brought before Kilmallock District Court again on May 21.
