Woman knocked down in early morning road collision in Limerick

A WOMAN, aged in her 60s, was rushed to hospital after being knocked down in a collision in the early hours of this Monday morning in Limerick city.

A garda spokesperson said she suffered "serious injuries".

Gardai, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service and the National Ambulance Service all attended the scene of the road traffic incident on Mulgrave Street.

A garda spokesperson said: "A car collided with a female pedestrian at approximately 1.35am. 

"The woman, aged in her 60s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick to receive treatment for serious injuries."

The road remains closed this Monday morning. Local diversions are currently in place.
