PART of a city centre street is to close from next week until the end of April to facilitate the continued development of a new discount supermarket.

Council has announced the temporary closure of the left-hand side of Roches Street from its junction with Parnell Street to its junction with Anne Street.

The around-the-clock closure is expected to come in from next Monday, February 5, and remain in place until Tuesday, April 30.

This is being done as the final touches on a new Aldi store in the street take place.

Access to the street section by the emergency services will continue at all times.
