Let’s Go Shopping at Limerick Museum this January

AS the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season envelops the city, Limerick Museum invites locals to step back in time and relive the charm of shopping trips from yesteryear with its latest exhibition, Let’s Go Shopping! A History of Retail in Limerick.
Curated by Dr Zara Power, assistant curator of Limerick Museum, the exhibition promises a nostalgic and colourful journey through the rich retail history of Limerick city.
From the iconic toy haven at Boyd’s to the quaint trinkets found at Todd’s, the showcase is a treasure trove of memories for young and old to enjoy.
The official opening of the exhibition was carried out by Mayor of Limerick City and County, Councillor Gerald Mitchell.
The mayor described the exhibition as a trip down memory lane.
“A celebration of getting the messages, only having a look and spending a few bob,” said Mayor Mitchell.
The museum offers free admission to the public, and is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
