AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following a suspected arson attack in Limerick city over the weekend.
The incident occurred late on Friday into the early hours of Saturday during what some locals in Southill have described as a "night of chaos".
It's understood a number of fireworks were set off and that a car was set alight.
Video footage of the anti-social behaviour, seen by Limerick Live, has been shared widely on popular social media platforms.
In response to a query, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed they were investigating what happened on Friday night/Saturday morning.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident of criminal damage by fire of a car in the O’Malley Park area of Limerick City on Friday evening,” said the spokesperson.
“The fire was extinguished by fire services. Investigations are ongoing,” they added.
There are no reports of any injuries.
